Hi, I’m Dovydas - the person behind Amžinai Tavo ( Forever Yours) Concrete Studio.
I’ve been working with concrete and terrazzo for over five years. During that time, I’ve experimented with countless mixtures, shapes, and finishing techniques. Not every experiment turned out the way I hoped, but that curiosity and the urge to try something new are exactly what brought me here.
I’m still amazed by how much you can create from a material most people associate with construction. From rough, porous concrete surfaces to colourful terrazzo patterns, where the tiny stone fragments sometimes deserve just as much attention as the finished piece itself.
Today, I use these materials to create candle holders, aroma diffusers, sculptures, and other small objects for the home. But my journey into making them didn’t actually begin with concrete.
How it all started
I originally studied graphic design. I’ve always enjoyed creating things, exploring ideas, and watching them take shape. But after several years of working on digital projects, I started missing something more tangible.
I wanted to make more than things people see on a screen. I wanted to create objects they could hold, use, and keep for years.
Around that time, I joined my brother, who was working with terrazzo and GFRC concrete furniture. That’s where I began learning about concrete production, different materials, and the techniques used to shape and finish them.
But the idea of creating my own products came from noticing something surprisingly simple.
When making terrazzo countertops and wall panels, there were often plenty of leftover pieces. Some were too small for larger projects, even though the material itself was still perfectly good.
I kept looking at those offcuts and thinking: surely there must be something else we can make from these?
That’s how my first experiments with smaller home accessories began. I explored different shapes, tried new cutting and polishing techniques, and started developing my own designs. One idea led to another, and the list of things I wanted to try just kept growing.
Some of those original terrazzo offcuts are still being used in my workshop today. But eventually, I had far more ideas than leftover material. So I began working with new terrazzo slabs and developing my own concrete mixtures as well.
What started as a simple question about making use of leftover material gradually grew into Amžinai Tavo Concrete Studio.
From the First Idea to the Finishing Touches
Today, I work with different materials and production techniques. Some of the terrazzo slabs I use are sourced from Italy, while other pieces are cast in my workshop using concrete mixtures I’ve developed myself.
I handle the casting, cutting, sanding, sealing, and finally packaging the pieces before they make their way to their new homes.
Every stage comes with its own challenges. Sometimes everything works out on the first attempt. Other times, I have to adjust the mixture, rethink the shape, or find a better way to finish a surface.
I’ll admit, I can be a little too stubborn when it comes to certain ideas. Once I have a clear picture of how something should look, it’s surprisingly hard to convince myself that “good enough” is actually good enough.
And my favourite part of the whole process? Sealing.
It’s one of the final stages, when all the experimenting, cutting, and polishing finally come together. The colours become richer, the stone fragments stand out, and all those little surface details become more visible. That’s usually the moment when I remember exactly why I enjoy doing this - and start thinking about the next project.
What matters to me isn’t just how something looks in a photograph. I care about the finish, how it feels in your hands, and whether the result lives up to what I originally had in mind.
Why "Amžinai Tavo"?
The name means “Forever Yours” in Lithuanian, and it comes from one of the main ideas behind my work: I believe things should be made to be enjoyed for as long as possible.
Concrete and terrazzo are strong, durable materials. With proper care and use, pieces made from them can last for many years.
I like the idea that something you bring into your home shouldn’t be there just for a season or until the next interior trend comes along. I’d rather create objects that people genuinely want to keep, take with them when they move, or perhaps even pass on to someone else one day.
So Amžinai Tavo isn’t just a name I thought sounded nice. It’s a reminder of why I started this journey and the kind of things I want to create.
A Little Piece of My Work, in Your Home
One of the most rewarding parts of what I do is knowing that something which existed only as an idea in my head not so long ago is now sitting in someone else’s home.
Maybe it’s a candle holder being used during dinner, a diffuser filled with someone’s favourite scent, or a small sculpture that caught someone’s eye for no particular reason other than they simply liked it.
What I enjoy most is creating things people choose not because they need them, but because they find something in them that feels personal.
And if one of my creations finds a place in your home and stays there for years to come, then all those experiments, failed castings, and hours spent in the workshop were worth it.
Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to get to know my story.
